We picked the first two tomatoes yesterday. Raspberries are ripening on young canes. The squash and cucumbers are visible on the vine. We’ve added fresh produce, particularly collards and kale, to the possibilities for Cupboard clients. And we’ve fallen into a small routine of the farm stand on Saturdays from 11 to 1. Any left overs, we have a hungry crowd after worship on Sundays too.
A dedicated small crew has gotten our urban farm this far. But changes in their lives, and a need for more help are real. It’s mostly a commitment to Saturday mornings harvesting between about 9 and 11. Val and Mark sort of have the farm stand down. But the front flower beds, particularly the west end where it gets biggest, could use some weeding too.
If anyone wants to get involved, please let Michael, Janice, Jeannette or Val know.
