For newcomers, we move our worship service earlier in the summer, when there is no Sunday School or Adult Forum. Worship will be at 10 a.m. from June 19 until Sept. 4.
You will notice some other changes: the choir goes into recess. Instead, various people offer special music each week. (If you would like to volunteer, please speak with Holly!).
And without choir, well, we need everyone to step up a bit on the congregational singing. We depend of the choir to lead us, but when they aren’t in session… Be bold, trust in the Spirit and sing loud — it’s church!
Also, our informality gets, well, more informal. Michael no longer wears the robe. People often come in shorts, t-shirts and sandals.
Weather permitting, fellowship hour is outside in the shade of the oak tree. And the food offerings sometimes get simpler — pretzels and lemonade is fine, as the real point is the fellowship as we get to catch up. And that’s particularly important when people with summer getaways are coming and going more and it’s easier to loose touch.
We’re here every Sunday. Join us.
And starting on June 19, as promised in the E-pistle from 05.06, I will end every sermon all summer with 2 questions that call the worshipers to make specific connections between the Scripture story or message of the day and their daily lives. I have an idea of a way that we can appropriately share the connections we make.
