The Second Week of our Stewardship Campaign: “The Giving Tree” asks us why we want to share our gifts at church. Below Tony P. tells us about what motivates him.
Love First, what a wonderful and powerful message. At Old First, we know these are not just empty words but words put into action. Actions that Jesus taught us about.
We act out our love when we gather as a faithful community to worship. We act out our love when we pray, support, and help one another. We act out our love when we feed 80 people on Saturday morning. We act out our love when we provide a clothing cupboard. We act out our love when we provide shelter during the winter months to homeless men. Those are just a few examples of how Old First puts love into action.
I volunteer at church weekday mornings. My small actions of service include keeping up with church attendance by gathering and entering the attendance in the computer, running the sound system, folding the bulletin, and any general office help. I do these tasks because my service to the church feels right and wonderful. Being a part of something much bigger than myself is a wonderful feeling.
All our small actions over time do add up. So help us spread the love by not only worshiping but also coming to volunteer! We need to keep this love flowing and it can not be done without you. Even the smallest of actions at Old First help. Those small actions of love done by many add up to great things.
