The worn carpet in the Sanctuary has been replaced with a new bright red runner down the center aisle and across the front of the space in front of the chancel. Sort of a foretaste of what it might be like when we get to renovating the Sanctuary? Come to church and check out how much difference even a little updating can make.
In order to accommodate the new carpet in front of the chancel (where the carpet was most terribly worn), a pew was removed from the front of the two center sections. This gives us more room for the piano, or more specifically, getting past the piano when we come forward in worship, for communion or times when we bring our offerings forward or even during the passing of the peace.
You might remember that KSK Architects have worked up a plan for a number of redesigns in our Sanctuary as it is renovated. Primarily it was a redesign of the front chancel and the lighting. The suggestions were presented to the church briefly with KSK’a report, but have not been approved yet by the church.
Instead, the congregation decided to delay consideration of plans on the Sanctuary renovation until the building exterior was approved and finished. We also decided to do the work on the front courtyard and entrance before finally finishing our Capital Campaign projects with the Sanctuary.
