It's Not to Late to Contribute to our Team Effort at this Saturday's (4/9) Walk+Run Against Hunger

It’s not too late to make a contribution in support of Old First’s walkers in this Saturday’s Walk+Run Against Hunger:

You gift will come mostly back to Old First’s Food and Clothing Cupboard!

This year’s Walk+Run Against Hunger will be this Saturday, April 9. We are fielding a team of walkers to raise funds for the hungry. 80% of what we raise comes right back to Old First to support our food-buying for the Saturday Food and Clothing Cupboard.

Overall, the Walk+Run Against Hunger supports more than 100 food pantries, soup kitchens and hunger-relief agencies in Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey. Together, they help hundreds of thousands of local families put food on their tables every day.

Like ours, most food pantries and soup kitchens are small programs run by volunteers. For many of them, the Walk+Run is the main way they raise funds to buy food, kitchen equipment and other necessities to help people who come to them for help.

The Walk+Run also benefits the region’s leading hunger-relief agencies, including the Coalition Against Hunger, The Food Trust, SHARE and Philabundance. Old First buys food at a discount for our ministries of service from Philabundance.

If you are walking, the schedule for Saturday, April 9, 2011 begins at 8:30 am by meeting Yiwola and our other Team members at the Registration area near the steps in front of the Art Museum (he will have an Old First sign). We should be done by 11:30 or noon.
