Old First’s children and youth have chosen Water Is Life- Kenya as the charity of choice to fundraise over the Lenten season. This year the children and youth have made a variety of tasty treats that have been sold during fellowship hour. So far we have raised over $100.
Water is Life – Kenya is a non-profit organization that is committed to helping increase income in the communities as a way of improving access to food, education and other activities communities decide they want to undertake to benefit themselves. To build sustainability for the water projects and to improve economic conditions and quality of life for the community WILK has developed a series of seminars entitled “Livestock as a Business” to teach improved animal husbandry and business skills to community members and has encouraged the formation of Livestock Action Groups which can implement the new practices. WILK helps the women market their beaded handicraft, helping dozens of families buy food and keep their children in school. Profits go into more water projects, helping Water is Life – Kenya become more sustainable as well.
