Weekly Outreach Updates Are Here!

Weekly Outreach Updates Are Here!

-We started serving coffee last Saturday and the guests were extremely happy that we brought it back. There’s nothing like a fresh cup of hot coffee on a cold winter morning to start your day.

– We had a very generous donation from an individual who bought a ton of men’s winter accessories such as neck scarves, gloves and hats. And because of this individual, I was able to put a new pair of gloves in every hygiene bag! It’s important to remember that as outreach is navigating how to best accommodate Saturday’s program in order to serve our guests, the spirit/culture of Old First Church is still felt by those who receive our services. And giving a new pair of warm winter gloves is just one way to demonstrate this.

-However, in order to keep going, I need to maintain a supply of these items in order to insure there’s enough for everyone. If you’re interested in supporting outreach in this way, you can visit our Amazon wishlist where I have included these items.  https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1IXKHG45B3DH5?ref_=wl_share

-The shelter has been running smoothly thus far, and we just opened the showers and laundry this Monday. My goal while the men are there is to secure 3 fresh meals a week. If you or someone you know is interested in making dinners for the shelter guests here is the link to reserve your slot! As you can see, we have many dates available:   https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c4ca4ab2eaafa7-shelter2

Events In Philly

-There aren’t many in person events because of the pandemic, but there are a ton of online events, specifically educational seminars that can keep you occupied when you’re cooped up at home. And best of all, they’re FREE!

-And here’s one of them:

– This is a great opportunity to come together and learn about issues that impact long-term HIV/AIDS survivors. For this webinar, you will hear people sharing their stories and how Covid-19 has affected these individuals. Furthermore, mental health and sustaining community resources for individuals living with HIV/AIDS will also be discussed.

– You do not want to miss this opportunity! Here is the link to register: https://fight.org/event/the-reunion-project-virtual-experience/?fbclid=IwAR2pxixc-q1WSUmdEuq_K9iF3guDxOmaR8qDsNil7jTlkASQtAiC99qCylw

Have a great weekend!
