My name is Alesha Thomas, I am your new Outreach Coordinator at Old First. While I have just gotten started in this role, my goal is to continue the great work of my predecessor John Bergen.
Foremost, I would like to thank Pastor Michael and Theresa for helping me settle in, but more than anything I would like to thank John Owens, for his hard work in upholding his official duties while jointly assuming the responsibilities of Outreach Coordinator during this interim period.
Importantly, I want you to know that while I may not always be visible, I am HERE ready to build relationships with each of you, and in doing so, my wish is that we work together– blessing others by serving those who are less fortunate.
(Noticing that I have not mentioned, anything about myself or my background)… I am a graduate of Temple University with a bachelor’s degree in Africana studies. My professional background includes event planning, office management and fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Currently (when not at Old First) I work as a freelance writer and interviewer.
As a Christian and member of Tenth Presbyterian Church here in Philly, it is important for me be a part of an environment where the focus is on serving God, and doing so in a loving, open and compassionate way. Old First for me is that place.
Again, I truly look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be a part of this church family. From the many interactions that I have had thus far, I already feel at home!
Can’t wait to meet you!
