I am pleased to announce that Louis Menendez has accepted the position as Old First’s Director of Music. Louis was our guest musician last Sunday. Those of us in the congregation and choir felt a kinship not only musically but also in his interactions with us during coffee hour.
A native New Yorker, Louis is a highly regarded conductor, pianist, educator, composer, and collaborative artist. He has conducted more than one hundred and forty opera productions throughout the United States and Europe, and has served on the faculties of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. He is also an operatic coach.
Although currently working and living in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Louis has roots in the Philadelphia area and is happy to once again call our city his home. He will join us for choir rehearsal as of October 31st and Sunday worship on November 3rd. You can get a glimpse on Youtube of the talent that awaits us here at Old First.
We are truly blessed to welcome him to Old First. The Holy Spirit indeed guided us as we sought God’s will for our congregation.
