We’re Ready to Decorate Our Advent Candleholders!

We’re Ready to Decorate Our Advent Candleholders!

Michael and Janice have been working hard to get all the wooden blocks cut, sanded, and ready for hand out to our Old First members for decorating! Starting next week, Old Firsters can come by the church office to pick up a wooden block (or 2 or 3) to decorate. Someone will be around the office (Michael, Devan, or Tony) during business working hours (M-F, 9 to 5), so feel free to come by anytime next week during those hours to pick up your blocks. If those hours don’t work for you, then contact Devan at the office and we can work out another time for you to come by!

We know that many of you have expressed interest in decorating a couple of wooden blocks, but here in the beginning, we’ll let folks take home up to 4 wooden blocks at a time to decorate. This encourages the possibly that anyone who wants to decorate can do at least one and makes it easier for us to keep track. When you come by church to pick up your blocks, Devan will make a note of how many you’re taking home to decorate. Once you’ve finished those and brought them back, if there are more needing to be decorated, you are welcome to take a second round (or third)!

As the fully decorated candleholders start being returned, we will be taking photos of them and sharing them each week, to give others ideas of how they could decorate theirs and to share all the beautiful work!

Since these are Advent Candleholders / Wreaths, you could pick an Advent or Christmas theme to use to guide your decorating. However, do not feel like you have to! These can be fully inspired by what YOU want to create. So feel free to follow wherever your heart takes you. And remember, please sign the bottom so that whoever receives your candleholder will know it was you who made it!

We’re asking everyone to return their decorated candleholders NO LATER THAN Monday, October 19.

If you have any questions, feel free to call the office or email : 215-922-4566  or  admin@oldfirstucc.org
