What the Elders Accomplished in May '16

The Elders hold their meeting on the second Monday night of each month. In May that was the 9th. At that meeting, they accomplished the following:

~ voted to propose to the Philadelphia Association’s Committee on Ministry to consider accepting Katrina Forman into care as a “member in discernment” (a step on the way to ordination).

~ discussed the pace of pledged giving and the church’s current financial status. There is some concern that starting in March, pledging began to fall behind in the a year to date comparison to previous year. The Elders have asked the Financial Secretary to study giving patterns to see if there is an explanation for this drop in giving year to year.

~ having last month peopled the 2 ministry teams: the Capital Campaign Construction Ministry Team and the 4th Street Parcel Ministry Team, the Elders had sent Larry to the opening meeting of the 4th Street Parcel Ministry Team, where they requested the Elders provide them with a clear and detailed charge of their responsibilities. The Elders have finalized that charge, and, as well, upon request, prepared a second charge for the Capital Campaign Construction Ministry Team. Both committees are now at work, undertaking their research and conducting their deliberations. As they come to conclusions, decisions will be brought first to the Elders and then before the whole congregation.

Respectfully submitted,
