In a desire to increase communication and accountability in our governing structure, and as part of our commitment to transparency, the Elders wish to provide a brief summary of what they accomplish at each of their monthly meetings.
If you have any questions about these summaries, please speak with me. If you have concerns for the Elders, please speak with our Moderator, Steve Wilhite.
Here is our first such summary for the March 2012 meeting of the Elders:
~ Reviewed, discussed general, favorable reactions to the leader’s retreat: it seems helpful and a creative use of leaders’ time to have the opportunity to check in with one another and hear what’s happening across the church.
~ Reviewed the report from Administrative (Admin) Standing Leadership Group (SLG), with a particular focus on their suggestion we consider a capital campaign to begin to tackle some of the deferred building maintenance
~ Worked out in greater detail the steps for the discernment process for the pastor following the period of covenant ministry
~ Received/discussed reports from liaisons to the SLGs and from the pastor
~ Reviewed the latest financial report, that as of 2.29.12. has us running appreciably in the black.
Submitted in Spirit,
