POWER is inviting us to the first candidate forum for the upcoming Gubernatorial election. Actually, this early, we’re looking towards the primary elections.
We pray in church week after week about the schools. We know there are all sorts of issues and problems. But if we do not have the money for the basic needs of education our children, all the other challenges are moot.
Likewise, when we hear the prayers from the Saturday cupboard, how many are for work? Or how many of our shelter guests are unable to get permanent housing because of their immigration status?
We know that who’s behind the desk in Harrisburg has major influence on our schools, our jobs, and our quality of life here in Philadelphia.
On November 23, POWER and some union allies will host candidates to answer YOUR questions about education, jobs, health care and the future of our city.
Here’s a video invitation from Dwayne Royster, POWER’s executive director (and pastor at our sister congregation, Living Water United Church of Christ).
Bring your family, friends and neighbors to learn more about the Gubernatorial candidates and their plans for Philadelphia. From 4 to 6 p.m. at Temple University’s Performing Arts Center, 1836 North Broad Street.
