This Year, Christmas Means to Me....

Christmas is about more than shopping and gifts and parties. It’s a time for reflecting on the idea that “God is with us. Now and always.”

Girl with Christmas candle
God is at work

When I was a little girl, Christmas was so full of wonder. Now that I am old, it promises God is still at work in the world.

God doesn’t abandon people

I am so sick about the separated children & families at the border. Christmas reminds me God doesn’t abandon people (even if we do).

I am not alone

I am recently divorced. The story of Christmas is about God becoming fully human. That story reassures me that God is with me, even when I feel alone and forgotten.

God seeks peace

Christmas this year means something deeper than hope that the discouraging and dehumanizing realities in our present society are not inevitable; that God seeks a world of peace and justice for all of us.

Appreciation for community

This year, Christmas means appreciation and gratitude for all of the people who have been there for me when I was in need of assistance. People who gave me hope. And it means thankfulness for a loving, caring family.

Love First
Love First

Christmas means “togetherness.” It has always been a special when I have felt the closest to family and friends. It’s a time to set aside differences and find similarities. I take notice of my friends, family, neighbors and patients. It means “LOVE FIRST.”

Peace on Earth

Christmas this year and every year means gratitude and hope. “Peace on Earth, Goodwill towards men (and women and everyone)”!

Being with family and remembering how blessed I am to have them and my friends in my life.
