Young Adults Invite Folks to a Shelter Dinner and Story Slam

The Young Adults organize a variety of different service and fellowship opportunities. They are open to all, even if part of the reason behind them is to offer the people at church in the 20 to 35 age range with opportunities outside of worship and meetings to spend time together and get to know one another.

Two upcoming events are open to all:

Shelter Dinner on Friday, 01.09. at 5:30 p.m. The young adults, for the last couple years, have done a monthly meal for our Shelter. They provide, prepare and share a meal with the men who live at Old First. Depending upon what they are preparing (and how much is made before), they get to church sometime after 5 p.m., and aim to serve the meal about 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in getting involved or helping out, please speak to Andrew Hartmann (his contact info. is available from the online directory or the church office).

StorySlam on Monday, 01.12. at 7:30. What’s a StorySlam? A StorySlam is more than a storytelling competition. It’s an invitation to share five minutes of your life in a room full of people who appreciate a well-told tale. Each night features a new theme, so the stories are always fresh and entertaining. Got five minutes? Come and lend an ear, or share an experience. The theme on Monday, 01.12 is “Little Things.” These events are a lot of fun, and if successful, we could turn this into a fairly regular outing, as they have at least two a month. We would like to make a reservation at World Cafe Live, so make sure to RSVP to Jonathan Atwood (whose contact info. is available from the online directory or the church office) if you would like to attend.
