On Good Friday evening, it’s been our recent tradition to have our members reflect on the last words that Jesus spoke from the cross. It’s become a special service where lay people offer their faithful gifts in spoken word and music.
Good Friday, this year, will be on April 14; our service will be at 7 p.m.
If you wish to offer a musical meditation (voice, instrumental, solo or an ensemble), please let Holly or Michael know. With notice and sufficient time, Holly is available to help people prepare their offerings.
If you want to give one of the reflections this year, the seven last words are listed below. Choose one that you would like to work with, and let Michael know. If you want or need help preparing your meditation, Michael is available.
“Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)
“This day thou shalt be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43)
“Woman, behold thy son.” (John 19:26)
“My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me.” (Mark 15:34)
“I thirst.” (John 19:28)
“It is finished.” (John 19:30)
“Into thy hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.” (Luke 23:46)
Anyone and everyone is invited to participate. (As I write this, it occurs to me that we could even have a guest, someone we don’t yet know participate!)
If you want to be part of this service, please let us know.
