A Quiet Ministry (You Might Not Even Know About)

When people find themselves in a situation where making themselves meals might be one more difficulty they don’t need to juggle, Old First has a quiet bunch of cooks who start churching out the soups and casseroles. We freeze them and get them to whoever is in need that they might use them when they are the best help.

Situations can be varied – an illness or someone in your family’s hospitalization. A new baby. A problem in your kitchen.

We try and check on food restrictions and tastes. And we try to cook in serving sizes that make sense (no sheet pan size casseroles for a single individual!).

Currently, we’ve been taking food to Sarah and John who have their new baby Jones. They live right across the street from church, so this is an easy one. And Sarah and John have really appreciated the help that home-cooked food that just needs to be heated up means.

Coming up, we’ll be able to help out Montiese once she’s had the second surgery on her ankle and is back home. She’s going to be a bit of a challenge, because she doesn’t like vegetables!
